Our Commitment to Safeguarding
My Body Rocks is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and empowering environment for everyone who attends our studios. We take the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults seriously and ensure that all staff, instructors and volunteers understand their responsibilities in keeping our community safe.
We believe that every person has the right to:

Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to:

All instructors and staff

Assistants and volunteers

Students and participants

Parents, guardians and carers

Visitors, photographers and external hirers
It covers all activities at all our locations and temporary events we take park in, including classes, private lessons, parties, events and studio hire.
Our Safeguarding Principles
We follow these core principles:

Safety First

We maintain safe training environments, appropriate equipment checks and clear studio rules to minimise risk.

Appropriate Boundaries

Instructors maintain professional boundaries at all times, including appropriate physical contact for spotting and safety.

Inclusivity & Respect

We promote a culture of kindness, acceptance and body‑positivity. Bullying, harassment or discrimination of any kind is not tolerated.

Clear Communication

We encourage open communication between instructors, students and parents/guardians. Concerns can be raised at any time.
Staff Responsibilities
All My Body Rocks instructors and staff will:

Follow safe teaching practices and spotting techniques

Report any safeguarding concerns immediately

Maintain professional boundaries
-
Ensure children are collected by a known adult
-
Never be alone with a child behind closed doors
-
Never communicate privately with under‑18s on personal accounts
Photography & Social Media
To protect privacy:

No photos or videos of children are taken without parental consent
-
Students may only be photographed with permission
-
No identifying information is shared on social media
-
External photographers must follow our safeguarding rules
Supervision of Children & Young People

Children under 16 must be accompanied to and from the studio by a parent/guardian
-
Parents may wait in designated areas
-
Instructors will not take responsibility for children outside class times

Changing areas are monitored appropriately
Responding to Concerns
If a safeguarding concern is raised, we will:

Listen and take the concern seriously

Record the information accurately
-
Report it to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Take appropriate action following UK safeguarding guidance

External Hirers & Instructors
Anyone hiring our studios for classes, workshops or events must:

Provide their own safeguarding documentation if working with under‑18s

Hold appropriate insurance and qualifications

This policy is reviewed annually or sooner if legislation or studio practices change.
